QJH Athletic Awards

QJH athlete receives awards at ceremony.Quitman Junior High is where our athletes are issued their first official Panther Nation jersey. It’s where they notice that their coach is also great at teaching science, and being a Panther Athlete means you have to maintain a “C” average in four of your year-long classes.

This is where confidence builds.

Coach Barrett took the time yesterday to ensure that all his players knew how well they did. In 7th grade basketball J’Lon McCoy received the team’s MVP award. Kade Hamrick earned the rebound, most improved, and hustle awards while Eli Lewis was named the best academic player. On the 8th grade team Shawn Willis took home the academic and offensive MVP awards. Both 8th grade blocks and rebounds awards went to Zakerion Brown. Steven Beckman received most improved while Donovan Williams was awarded defensive MVP.

In 7th grade football J’lon McCoy was the overall team MVP and the offensive MVP. Kade Hamrick took both the defensive MVP as well as the coach’s award. Jamarcus Jones received the Panther award. Donovan Williams was presented with overall MVP, defensive MVP, and coach’s awards while Crishawn McMickle earned the Panther award, and Steven Beckman was presented with offensive MVP in 8th grade football.

Everyone got a medal for QJH baseball, but Donovan Williams received the Panther award. Kendan Allen got the coach’s award while Andre Adams was handed the pitcher award. Shawn Willis was quick to accept the hustle award, and J’lon McCoy was grateful to receive the team’s MVP.

Of course, all the teams were excited to present an award to the one coach who has been there for every run, shot, pass, pitch, down, and score that has happened this year. Coach Barrett is definitely appreciated.
