We’ll Be Together Whatever the Weather
It was the 22 member co-ed group of 6th-graders who began the Farewell Concert with George Harrison’s “Here Comes the Sun”. With songs such as “Humble and Kind” following one could not help but to think of a teacher was sending a wish to her students.
In typical Freeman style, she shot some looks and turned around to instruct a group to be quiet and respectful because it wasn’t as she put it, “our first rodeo”.
That’s all it took before perfect pitch filled the auditorium and the “Rain Music” began with the boys.
Mr. Daniels punctuated the performance with a light show, and the audience cheered the talent after every stormy song.
Ms. Freeman made sure her eighth graders were recognized not only for their talent, but also for their attitudes, willingness to help, and improvement.
Then she sobbed as she directed THIS piece performed by all the students she has taught since she has been at Quitman School District.
She left a note in the evening’s program. It read,
I have enjoyed teaching all of these babies this year and in my past 5 years. I will miss them dearly! Keep them singing! They are talented!
