Behind The Mask

 

Chris McArthur is currently in his fourteenth year with the Quitman School District, serving as Junior High Band Director for eight years before assuming the Director of Bands position in 2002. Prior to coming to Quitman, he served as Director of Bands for the Houston, Mississippi School District and Assistant Band Director for the Gulfport City School District. Bands under his direction consistently earned superior ratings in concert, sight-reading and marching.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Music degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. His professional memberships include Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Phi Beta Mu, Mississippi Bandmasters Association and the East Central Mississippi Band Director Association, where he is a Past President. He was the 1993 recipient of the A.E. McClain Outstanding Young Band Director award, was selected 2005 Star Teacher for the Quitman School District and led the 2005 Mississippi Lions All-State Band to it’s twenty-third international championship in Hong Kong.

Chris is married to the former Stephanie Richards of Kosciusko and is the proud father of two daughters, Kathryn Elise and Elizabeth Grace.
