Your Thursday Shirt

Two QLE students pose with the One District, One Book community read.

We are excited about our annual Community Book Reading event!! This year we will be reading “The Butterfly Effect” by Andy Andrews. We will have t-shirts, yard signs, and banners to display our theme & book. We want everyone to know that “Different Today, Leader Tomorrow” is the change we want to see in our leaders and youth! We will be selling t-shirts to show our passion for literacy. We are asking that you wear your shirts with jeans on Thursdays (once delivered) to show your support. T-shirt forms are at all of our schools, and orders are due by October 11th.

Our event will kickoff October 21st when we begin handing out books to families and engaging everyone in selected activities.

We know your schedules are busy so we are hosting a meet, greet, and information session to get you involved in our annual community-wide reading of The Butterfly Effect by Andy Andrews. This year our goal is to inform as many of our community members as possible about our family literacy event and encourage them to read along with us. Our theme this year is “Different Today, Leader Tomorrow”. On Monday, October 21, 2019, each family in grades K-12 will receive a copy of the book to reinforce what is discussed at the schools. This will kick off the reading and activities that will happen in our schools. In the past our annual community literacy event has seen much success and support from community partners, and we know that support continues.

We will host an informational meeting focused on our community-wide literacy event on Tuesday, October 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the Central Office board room. We hope that your schedule will allow you to join us. We look forward to sharing our plans for One District, One Book Community reading event with you, and we hope that you will support us in this worthwhile project.

Thank you!
