Leah Ivey Earns QSD Administrator of the Year

Those in the QHS auditorium last night heard as QSD Superintendent Dr. Holloway listed all the reasons Quitman Upper Elementary’s Principal Leah Ivey received the 2019 QSD Administrator of the Year award. Today we spoke with those who work alongside Mrs. Ivey at QUE. Following is why those who work for her believe she deserved the recognition.

“She’s a wonderful boss, very kind and genuine. Always willing to help with whatever is going on. Whatever she is faced with, she always works it out. No matter how big or small, you can count on our LeLe.” Toshia Phillips

“As a teacher it is wonderful to know that no matter what you’re going through, she’s going to back you. When they brought here over here two years ago to say she was going to be our principal, I thought there is no way. She’s too bubbly, too sweet to be a principal. She’s not going to be tough on the kids. Now I know I was wrong. That woman means business.” Pam Hampton

“She is data driven and keeps the children’s needs and teacher’s needs above everything. Don’t tell her it can’t be done. She’ll get it done.” Rhonda Holloman

“She’s hard working and dedicated. She tackles, confronts, and never backs down.” Chelsea Davis

“She really is the best. Out of all the administrators I’ve worked for, she is definitely the most supportive. People freindly, personable, and always with a smile. She always has your back. She doesn’t expect anything out of you that she’s not willing to do herself.” Hannah Walley

“She is always willing to go above and beyond for students and staff. This is my second year under her, and I love that she is someone good to talk to. Not only for work purposes, but also as a person.” Savanna Mayfield

Leah poses with fellow staff for QUE's fourth consecutive attendance award.

“The thing that stands out to me about Mrs. Ivey is her positivity and can-do spirit. I never have seen her not smile. If she can, she will go to the ends of the earth to help you.” Tammy Morris

“Because she’s the sweetest soul ever known to man. She is truly precious.” Tara Hurst

“Really and truly it’s all abut her personality and how she handles problems head on. She’s very positive, but she’s real. She empowers her teachers, her staff, and her students. She gives students differenct opportunities for them to grow socially, emotionally and academically. Of course, she has that killer smile which melts people.” Emily Gibson
