Television Broadcasting Production

The amazing TV Broadcasting students competed at TSA (Technology Student Association) state competition in March against students from all over the state. They took home multiple wins including 1st place in audio podcasting, 1st place in music production, 2nd place in promotional design & marketing, and 3rd place in future technology & engineering teacher categories. The winning students will represent Quitman at National TSA competition in Orlando, FL this summer.

Students in TV Broadcasting learn a wide variety of skills in video, digital media, graphics, audio, editing, writing, drones, and many others.

Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:

  • Operate a video camera
  • Edit video
  • Produce/Direct TV news and production
  • Setup audio and lighting equipment
  • Anchor and interview in a news style production
  • Write a TV news script, rundown, and news stories in pyramid news format

Television Broadcasting and Production - Year 1 - This course introduces students to television broadcasting and production. Students get a firm foundation of knowledge in employability skills, safety, and basic production knowledge. Additionally, students learn script writing fundamentals. This course identifies additional operational areas and their roles within the television production industry. Students will learn how the audio and editing features are incorporated within the industry and the proper techniques to use. Students will also gain an understanding of how to edit, produce, and direct a broadcast production.

Television Broadcasting and Production - Year 2 - This course teaches students advanced TV broadcasting employability skills, safety, and advanced production knowledge. This course provides a hands-on production process for video in broadcasting. Students are also introduced to virtual sets, green screen recording, filming with drones, and adding music and graphics to videos.

TSA

The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national organization of students engaged in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Open to students enrolled in or who have completed technology education courses, TSA’s membership includes over 248,000 middle and high school students in approximately 2,000 schools spanning 49 states. TSA is supported by educators, parents and business leaders who believe in the need for a technologically literate society. Members learn through exciting competitive events, leadership opportunities and much more. The diversity of activities makes TSA a positive experience for every student. From engineers to business managers, our alumni credit TSA with a positive influence on their lives.

Mississippi Essentials

Mississippi TSA is the only career and technical student organization dedicated exclusively to students enrolled in middle and high school technology education courses. Mississippi has 81 chapters with over 2500 students and advisors as members. Students who are enrolled in Digital Media Technology, Information Communication Technology I (ICT I), Information Communication Technology II (ICT II), Information Technology (IT), Polymer Science, Robotics and Engineering, Simulation and Animation (SAD), STEM and Technology Foundations are the driving force behind Mississippi’s success in this national organization.
